Forrest was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. Forrest married Lorraine Lois Lenartson on August 28, 1942.. Forrest is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine; his three sons, Larry Lee Fleming, Dale Thomas Fleming, and Steven Lynn Fleming.

As a young man Forrest was known as "Red" for his red hair. He served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. During the first years of the war he trained soldiers. Later he was sent to the South Pacific to prepare for the invasion of Japan. Forrest was part of the invasion fleet. He was waiting in invasion craft off the shore of Japan when the Japanese surrender ended the war. He then became part of the occupation force.

After returning home from the war Forrest pursued a career that would involve art. He loved to draw. This pursuit lead to becoming a Photo Engraver, the career he followed for most of his life.

Forrest loved gardening and bowling. He was an avid bowler all his life. His enjoyment of gardening led to a brief stint as a gardener when he purchased and operated his own gardening business, "Red's Gardening Service". Forrest also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas where he almost always won at his favorite game, craps. It was always amazing to all his family and friends that he and Lorraine could take a trip to Las Vegas and Forrest would pay for the whole trip with his winnings.

Forrest was a loving and devoted husband and Father. He and Lorraine raised three sons. They had a wonderful and loving marriage of almost 62 years.
